The International Research Institute for Media, Communication and Cultural Development – MEDIACULT (Vienna) exists since 30 years as an independent non-profit research institute. MEDIACULT has realized about 100 national, European and international research projects together with the international scientific community and on behalf of organisations like UNESCO and the Council of Europe. MEDIACULT has a longstanding experience in conceptualising, managing and executing high level research projects as well as in communicating cultural research issues to the public. The three research areas of the institute are:
MEDIACULT has also provided advice/consultation to the Council of Europe (new communication technologies), UNESCO (cultural industries) and the Austrian Government (cultural policy). Ethnographic and statistical methods are used in its interdisciplinary research projects.
